‘Metamorphosis’ represents the longstanding relationship between man and nature which has been tarnished in the past few decades. 

As consumers of the textile industry we unknowingly scar and pollute the environment with every purchase or additional consumption. Metamorphosis shows the evolution of human impact on environmental pollution in the textile industry. The skeletal and human aspect of the piece is created with wire and crocheted with acrylic yarn. The top wings are made similarly appearing to ‘decay’ and fray at the edges. The lower wings symbolize the gradual descent of human made textiles turning to plastic and toxic materials. When closely inspected the tapestry of the two bottom wings is crocheted entirely using ‘yarn’ created from plastic bags. Humans unknowingly have become completely accustomed towards this way of living.
